Policy Statement

Garden City Community College utilizes an ongoing strategic planning process that articulates its goals and strategies, both internal and external, to facilitate improved success. This process allows institutional leadership to evaluate and implement goals and strategies for both short term and long term planning.  As a dynamic living document, the strategic plan provides necessary flexibility for adjustment and modification during annual review or in response as internal and external conditions necessitate.

Procedures

Daily functional authority for strategic planning, assessment, and institutional research, as it relates to institutional effectiveness, is the responsibility of the Vice President for Instructional Services (VPIS). In this capacity, the VPIS is responsible for establishing, maintaining, and monitoring the coordination of appropriate assessment procedures for the College’s strategic planning process, outcomes assessment, and its progress toward mission and goal accomplishment. The planning process links College activities (administrative and academic) with Strategic Planning Pillars, Objectives, and Initiatives and provides for participation of faculty, administration, and staff in determining the overall direction of the College. Strategic planning is also linked to allocation of financial resources through the Budget Planning Process.
