In-person orientation is heavily encouraged for all students attending on-campus courses or first-time freshman or new transfer. All new students will be receiving a new student bag!

Virtual Orientation is mandatory for ALL new students. This virtual orientation is packed with information to help students be successful.

Online Jumpstart
Jumpstarts are for all new online-only students AND highly recommended for all students taking an online class for the first time.
Jumpstarts are live webinars through Zoom that introduce new online students to educational technology, online support structures, and the information needed to be successful in an online class. Each jumpstart will run about 60-90 minutes depending on student questions.

Join us to get tips and tricks to get ready for your first day of college class. - Accessing Classes, Services & Support
Get hands-on with your student tech platforms. We’ll show you how to find student services, navigate your classes in Canvas, access eBooks, request help, and more—all starting with your myGCCC dashboard. - Advising 101/GCCC Degrees
Join this session to hear about how GCCC degrees are structured, how you can know what classes to take, and more information on how advising is here to support you. - AI in Class: What You Need to Know
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is everywhere, and it’s changing how we learn. In this session, you’ll discover how to use generative AI the right way at GCCC. We’ll talk about how to show your own thinking, protect your ideas, and stay true to academic honesty. You’ll also learn what’s required when using AI and where to find helpful resources. - Campus Safety and Title IX
- Join this session to hear about safety supports and resources on our campus and tips on setting boundaries and creating and maintaining healthy relationships in college.
- Financial Aid/Work Study
Join us as we explore all types of funding opportunities (grants, scholarships, loans, work study) - Level Up Your College Game
- Unlock your college potential with our "Level Up Your College Game" session! Discover the essential services and resources that will enhance your academic experience, boost your well-being, and empower you to succeed from day one

Join us in the Saffell Library where you’ll learn about everything the library has to offer including databases, help finding sources, tutoring, and more!
FAQ
Students can complete virtual orientation at any time between enrollment and the first day of class.
For all new-students attending on campus, an in-person will be Sunday August 16th, 2026. Orientation will start at 2:00 PM pm in DPAC (the Dennis B. Perryman Athletic Complex). View the Campus Map
For new students taking all their classes online, online jumpstarts are hosted at the start of each new online session.
Virtual orientation is mandatory for all new. Virtual orientation provides a wealth of knowledge for students to be successful at GCCC and helps you to be aware of all the resources available to you.
For the best orientation experience, students should also plan to attend the in-person orientation if they can. Online students should also plan to attend an online jumpstart as well.
