About the Program

Program Overview
The Electrical Technology program at Garden City Community College is designed to help students launch a career in a high-demand technical field. Students gain the knowledge and hands-on skills needed to work with complex electrical and mechanical systems in industrial settings.

Hands-On Technical Training
Throughout the program, students learn how to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial electrical systems. Training includes electrical circuits and controls, motor controls, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), instrumentation, hydraulics, and pneumatics.

Career-Ready Skills
Graduates are prepared with practical, job-ready skills that support entry into electrical and industrial maintenance careers or continued advancement in the field.

Highlights

We train with industry-standard test equipment to ensure you are familiar with professional field diagnostics. GCCC partners with Empirical Foods, which provides sponsorship for up to 10 students per year through the "Fully Connected Program."

Other Information

The training incorporates both general applications and specific industry-relevant scenarios, ensuring you have the technical skills needed to maintain complex industrial equipment while gaining experience in teamwork, problem-solving, and critical thinking.

Scholarship

Kansas Promise Scholarship Eligible
This program qualifies for the Kansas Promise Scholarship, giving you the opportunity to earn a degree or certificate at little to no cost.

The Kansas Promise is a “last-dollar” scholarship that covers tuition, fees, books, and other program-related expenses not already paid by other scholarships or grants. It’s available to eligible Kansas students enrolled in high-demand programs. In return, recipients agree to live and work in Kansas for two years after completing their program.
